Sankofa from the Akan Proverb, means "Sewo were fi na wo
Sankofa a yenki" (Translation: It is not forbidden to go back
and claim what you have forgotten).
The Sankofa Summit is a national conference hosted by the
Ambassadors of the Word and sponsored by the Bowman
Francis Project. This is a national ministry, held annually, that
consists of on-site workshops for youth, young adults, and
youth ministers in the national black Catholic community. Our
vision is to enrich or establish youth ministries in the many
places that send representatives to Sankofa. It might even
mean setting up "youth mission bands" with local youth
preachers, poets, artists, musicians, clowns, etc. that can
offer quality retreat experiences for young black Catholics in
our dioceses.
Youth ages 8 - 18 enjoy lifting up their hands in praise when
gathered together to fellowship and praise the Lord with their
peers. They praise and worship the Lord through song,
dance, bible study reflections, and dialogue on how to walk
with Christ daily in a world filled with peer pressure. It's a
good fun time for all attendees.
Mark your calendars.
Come enjoy the fun of praising Jesus
with your peers!!!!
