Mass Choir members of Youth JAM 2009, Our Lady of Grace Youth Choir
The Annual Liturgical and Fellowship Celebration of Youth JAM for Jesus at Our
Lady of Grace Church in the Bronx on January 24 was a great success. Over
250 youth attended. Ambassadors of the Word is the architect of this youth
rally. Starting in 2000, the event has always been held on the Saturday before
or after the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday. The Black Catholic
ministries of the Archdiocese of New York, the Diocese of Brooklyn, and the
Diocese of Rockville Centre join every year with the Ambassadors of the Word
to bring our young people together to celebrate the life and prophetic ministry
of Dr. King. It is also a way to encourage our black youth to remember the life of
Jesus Christ as it is mirrored in the vision of Dr. King, as well other visionaries
of African ancestry throughout the history of humankind.
The National Center congratulates the organizer committee of the Youth JAM
for their energy and sacrifice. Without them, this event could never have
happened. Once again, our congratulations to the leaders of the Youth JAM.
